Job Description
- Must have a relevant tertiary qualification in Agriculture or Logistics
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in an operational logistics management role in South African agriculture is essential
- Proven strong leadership and management capability
- Strong organizational and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
- Ability to set targets (KPIs), motivate and inspire staff to achieve targets
- Ability to prioritize responsibility under pressure
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Overseeing all routine logistics activities nationwide.
- Overseeing all transport and fleet management activities nationwide.
- Negotiating transport rates and arrangements nationwide.
- Leading and driving logistics strategy and planning.
- Leading and managing customer care functions to provide industry-leading levels of performance and service to customers.
- Managing inventory—taking responsibility and accountability for stock, including implementing mitigating and proactive measures such as security, cycle counts, and other good inventory practices.
- Actively assisting with executing stock takes and reconciliations, including proactive management of consignment stock.
- Ensuring legal compliance, including but not limited to dangerous goods storage and transport regulations.
- Identifying and tracking key KPIs to drive performance and meet group requirements.
- Assisting with budgeting and monitoring performance against budget for logistics-related activities.
- Preparing monthly tax packs.
- Ensuring compliance with group policies and directives.
- Attending and reporting at various operational meetings, e.g., MANCO meetings.
- Promoting and adhering to company culture and values, ensuring responsible management of resources and maintaining high standards and discipline within the logistics department nationwide.
