Engineering Foreman (Open Cast Mining) – Northern Cape Market related We are seeking a results-driven Engineering Foreman to lead maintenance teams in the Northern Cape. This role is pivotal in ensuring maximum equipment availability and strict adherence to safety standards within an open-cast mining environment. Key Responsibilities 1. Maintenance & Equipment Availability Collaborate with planners on maintenance schedules and resource allocation. Conduct daily over-inspections on machinery and monitor quality of artisan feedback on job cards. Ensure critical spare parts are available for scheduled work. Analyze downtime data via control room systems to ensure accuracy and identify bottlenecks. 2. Quality & Labour Management Monitor equipment performance post-repair to verify the quality of artisan workmanship. Manage the "comeback" process: identify training needs or address poor performance through technical discussions. Oversee workshop discipline, foster teamwork, and manage oil sample action plans. 3. Safety, Health, and Environment Strict compliance with all mine safety regulations and policies. Maintain a zero-harm culture within the engineering team. Minimum Requirements Education: National Senior Certificate and an N3 qualification in a related field. Trade: Qualified Artisan (Earth Moving Equipment). Experience: * Minimum 5 years post-trade experience. At least 2 years in a supervisory role. Extensive experience with CAT 777 machines (Essential). Minimum 3 years experience on both fixed and mobile Crushing and Screening Plants. Licensing: Valid Drivers License. Fitness: Must be medically fit to pass a standard mining medical examination. Knowledge & Competencies Technical: Proven expertise in open-cast mining machinery and crushing/screening circuits. Systems: PC proficiency and experience with maintenance planning systems. Communication: Strong verbal and written English communication skills. Leadership: Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and enforce workshop discipline. Note: A formal supervisory qualification will be considered a significant advantage.
