Job Description

Minimum requirements:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Quality Management, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 7 + years’ experience in the heavy commercial vehicle industry.
  • ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 internal auditor certification (preferred).
  • Code 14 (EC) driver’s licence.
  • Familiarity with South African regulatory requirements, including NRCS and homologation.
  • Automotive quality management experience, preferably within heavy commercial vehicles (HCVs).
  • OEM regulations experience.
  • Experience in quality management of SKD/CKD operations (preferred).

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-process and end-of-line quality audits.
  • Verify compliance with OEM assembly standards and work instructions.
  • Perform audits on incoming CKD kits and critical components and ensure documentation is completed accurately for all claims and reports.
  • Support the Technical Lead in reviewing and managing OEM build instructions.
  • Identify quality non-conformances and raise corrective actions.
  • Support containment, root cause analysis, and corrective action tracking.
  • Maintain quality records, audit reports, and compliance evidence.
  • Support vehicle homologation and regulatory inspections.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and problem-solving teams.
  • Train all staff on quality standards and defect awareness.
  • Ensure that key quality matters documented in SOPs are updated in accordance with build instructions and associated OEM revisions.
  • Maintain accurate records of quality findings, interventions, and improvements using the SAP MES/MRP system.
