Kuzuko is a Private Game Reserve and Five Star Lodge in the Eastern Cape. Kuzuko was established as a social enterprise with the aim of creating jobs in an area of high unemployment whilst also rewilding and restoring the land. Social upliftment is a key part of the Kuzukos mission statement and Kuzuko is looking to employ team members that share this vision. Kuzuko is looking for a skilled and reliable Maintenance Foreman to join our team. In this hands-on leadership role, you will work closely with the Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance team, ensure the lodge and facilities remain in good condition and support excellent guest experiences in the lodge. Key Responsibilities: Oversee daily maintenance activities on-site when Maintenance Manager is off site Plan and execute preventative maintenance tasks and general upkeep of the lodge; grounds and equipment Help manage plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting and minor construction tasks. Coordinate with other departments to minimize disruptions to guests Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards Assist with stock take Ensure that you follow and lead by example according to our Purpose and Values Keep detailed logs of servicing of all equipment and assets of all departments Lead by example with appearance and personal hygiene and ensure that the uniform and personal appearance of the entire team is clean, neat and professional Report to Management Team at regular times to advise on progress of projects and general maintenance tasks Respond to all guest issues in a timely manner Assist with other areas in the lodge, e.g. carrying luggage, as and when required Requirements: Minimum 5 years relevant experience in maintenance Strong technical with a good understanding across all trades and a specialism in at least one (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, general building) Ability to work independently and lead a team in a remote environment Experience managing a team Valid drivers license advantageous Matric and any relevant trade certificates To apply: Please send your CV, cover letter and copies of qualifications to careers@ Apply Below with Maintenance Foreman Application in the subject line. Minimum requirements for the role: Must have a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Industrial Management, Engineering, or a suitable Trade Proven experience managing maintenance within a meat processing plant Familiarity with manufacturing equipment/machinery found within a meat processing plant Must have strong knowledge of maintenance processes and factory operations Proven experience in managing teams and driving performance Technical understanding of machinery and maintenance practices is essential Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills Excellent organisational and leadership abilities The successful candidate will be responsible for: Overseeing preventative and reactive maintenance on all plant equipment including grinders, mixers, formers, conveyors, and refrigeration systems. Minimizing downtime by prioritizing breakdowns and coordinating rapid, effective repairs. Developing and managing planned maintenance schedules aligned with production requirements. Troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic faults on production equipment. Supervising, allocating work, and monitoring performance of Artisans such as Fitters, Electricians, and Millwrights. Ensuring maintenance work is completed safely, correctly, and within required timeframes. Training and mentoring team members to improve fault-finding, efficiency, and technical capability. Managing overtime, shift coverage, and standby arrangements where required. Ensuring all maintenance activities comply with HACCP and food safety standards. Enforcing strict hygiene controls during maintenance to prevent contamination risks. Coordinating with QA to ensure equipment is safe for production after maintenance work. Maintaining audit-ready documentation for inspections and compliance requirements. Driving equipment reliability and reducing repeat failures through root cause analysis. Analyzing breakdown trends and implementing corrective and preventative solutions. Working closely with production teams to optimize machine performance and reduce waste. Ensuring critical spares are available and properly managed to avoid downtime. Enforcing occupational health and safety compliance, including risk assessments and LOTO procedures. Investigating incidents and implementing corrective and preventive actions. Supervising external contractors and ensuring compliance with safety and food-grade standards. Liaising with suppliers for parts, services, and technical support. Maintaining maintenance records, job cards, and equipment histories, often via CMMS systems. Reporting on downtime, maintenance KPIs, and team performance. Assisting with maintenance budgeting and cost control. Supporting installation, commissioning, and upgrading of equipment and plant systems. Participating in continuous improvement and efficiency projects within the plant. Driving cost control initiatives and reducing waste across maintenance processes. Managing maintenance budgets and monitoring expenses against targets. Handling staff scheduling, discipline, and performance management. Ensuring compliance with labour legislation and company policies. Supporting new machinery and equipment installation and commissioning. Maintaining accurate maintenance records and documentation. Responsibilities: Drive improvements in processes to increase operational efficiency and reduce unplanned downtime. Ensure effective management and adherence to the maintenance plan, including updating preventive maintenance (PM) schedules and planning utilities availability. Ensure that the subordinates adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, work instruction and SOPs at all times. Accept the role of GMP team member. Ensure compliance with OHSACT and statutory requirements and ensure that unsafe conditions are reported and rectified. Maintain sound interpersonal relations, apply performance management effectively, and ensure optimal resource utilisation. Provide training and coaching to develop employees and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Support and encourage company values and actively engage in problem-solving. Lead projects and initiatives. Requirements: Qualified Millwright valid Red Seal certification. Wiremans license qualification in accordance with SANS 10142 Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role within a manufacturing environment. Working knowledge of HVAC systems and equipment.
