<p>Our client has an opportunity available for a Safety Officer.</p><p>Requirements:</p><ul><li>Certificated Safety Practitioner and in possession of at least a National Diploma in Safety Management or equivalent.</li><li>5 years similar work experience within a similar heavy-duty plant and machinery environment.</li><li>Experienced in Safety Management and Accreditation processes.</li><li>Experience in MS Office.</li><li>Above average communications skills with different levels of Management and Employees.</li><li>Work comfortably at heights and walking on gratings several stories high.</li><li>Free of asthma and related illnesses.</li><li>Must be physically fit.</li></ul><p> </p><p>Responsibilities:</p><ul><li>Attend, arrange, plan and maintain regularity of Safety meetings in Maintenance and Operations Departments.</li><li>Obtain the MSDSs for the different raw materials handled and used in plants and ensure the safe use thereof.</li><li>Carry out inspections, record and assist the different departments in the use of the safety equipment.</li><li>Ensure the safety equipment complies with the requirements of the OHS act.</li><li>Investigate, inspect, draw up safety procedures and train the employees in the methods for handling raw materials.</li><li>Monitor the application and execution of safe work procedures by all employees.</li><li>Record Safety Audits and Inspections carried out on plants and submit to Management on a three-month basis.</li><li>Establish an alphabetic and numeric logical numbering system for the Safety Department.</li><li>Plan and arrange that all employees are trained in the safe use of equipment, machinery, and plant.</li><li>Ensure that employees safety training records are up to date.</li><li>Work closely with the HR Department with regards to the arrangements of training and record keeping of such training.</li><li>Ensure that all contractors and employees have undergone induction training and arrange refresher courses when necessary.</li></ul>
