Johannesburg: Junior Structural Engineer posted by Hire Resolve

Hire Resolves client, a leading Civil Engineering firm in Johannesburg, is currently looking for a driven and motivated Junior Structural Engineer to join their team.

The role requires the detailed design and engineering of both reinforced concrete and structural
steelwork structures for projects primarily in industrial environments (mining, petrochemical, power,
breweries, food & beverages, automotive, paper & pulp, and general manufacturing industries). The
work typically includes foundations, superstructures, roofs, crane structures, water retaining
structures, conveyor foundations, bulk materials handling structures (silos, bunkers etc).

Location: Gauteng (hybrid home and Johannesburg office based)
Reporting to: Project Engineers, Directors

Responsibilities:

• Detailed design and engineering of structural works.
• Production of design sketches / information and communicating such to drafting staff.
• Management of drafting staff for the production of drawings according to project timelines.
• Coordination of work with other (internal and external) team members / work.
• Coordinating work in Navisworks.
• Production of technical documentation (reports, specifications, presentations, Bills of Quantities etc..)
• Conduct site visits and inspections as required by projects.
• Attendance to project or company meetings as required.
• Other design or general requests from the company from time to time.

Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• Good critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Planning and organising skills to complete work in allocated time and to project deadlines.
• Dynamic, self-motivated, takes responsibility and ownership of tasks.
• Works independently.
• Microsoft office suite application skills.
• Communication skills (written and oral) and ability to interface with clients and contractors.
• Recognizable working experience in delivering the above-mentioned duties and responsibilities.
• Prokon, Strand7 (preferred, or other FEA), Navisworks
