Job Description
Job Purpose:
To maximize the sales of parts to internal and external customers and focused on the acquisition and retention of customers, in order to achieve the agreed profit. Ensure full compliance to procedures as specified. To timeously perform parts duties according to the policies and procedures of the company in order to expedite the efficient running of the parts department on order that profitability is maximized while ensuring customer satisfaction at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer service
- Sell parts to repair the defect and meet the customer’s needs, the first time. Ensure first quotation is correct.
- Listen to the customer’s explanation and have a clear understanding of part of component location.
- Show interest in personal development and the willingness to learn more about the product. Maintain customer goodwill by greeting and acknowledge all customers he/she comes in contact with.
- Personally manage work efficiency.
- Assist in keeping parts department clean and orderly.
- Ensure that all parts used are recorded on the job card.
- When working the parts counter, follows prescribed cash and credit processing procedures of the dealership. Processes orders, warranties, and new return merchandise as required at a point of sale.
- Follow up on shortages and expedite by reporting to Parts Manager.
- Ensure that the correct items have been picked the first time.
- Always demonstrate an interest in growing the parts business.
- Assist with Parts Manager in merchandising displays.
- Controls showroom inventory to ensure maximum sales and customer satisfaction.
Development and Growth
- Participate in all relevant training programs.
- Share your new knowledge with team as team lead.
- Take note to do personal learning and self-development.
Risk Management
- Minimize any risk of stock shortage/stock losses.
- All material handling tools, and equipment handled according to prescribed dealership standards.
- Access control procedures adhered to.
Customer Care and Breakdown Attendance
- You may be required from time to time by your manager to work outside of normal working hours to assist the stand-by technician with parts.
- Record all sales and/or customer transactions that occur.
- Ensure that all breakdown job cards (both electronic and manual) are properly loaded and parts recorded.
Housekeeping
- Control orderliness and cleanliness.
- Ensure that all Health and Safety rules are adhered to at all times.
Monitoring and Leadership
- Ensure a good working relationship with colleagues and peers.
- Take corrective action on out-of-line items.
- Proper adherence to company rules regarding the use of tool, special tools and company assets.
- Promote wellness and encourage confidence in job analysis and understanding within the team.
Educational Qualifications:
- Matric
Relevant years of Experience:
- Minimum 3 years as a parts sales interpreter Team Lead.
- Experienced in all aspects of commercial vehicle parts and familiar with other OEMs.
Competencies:
- Good people handling and leadership skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Good time management skills.
- Strong administrative skills.
- Advanced Excel knowledge will be an advantage.
