Johannesburg: Payroll Officer (SAGE 300)

About the Role

Our client in the FMCG / Food Manufacturing industry is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Officer to join their team on a 3-month contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for the full payroll function across wage and salary employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full payroll function for wages and salaries
  • Collate, analyse, and verify time and attendance reports
  • Process payroll inputs including hours, leave, allowances, and deductions
  • Capture and maintain payroll data on SAGE300 Payroll system
  • Generate and distribute payslips, resolve payroll queries
  • Perform payroll reconciliations and reporting
  • Handle UIF, EMP201, and SARS submissions
  • Process provident fund contributions and claims
  • Manage garnishee orders and third-party payments
  • Maintain accurate employee records and payroll files
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation (BCEA, UIF, PAYE, etc.)
  • Assist with Employment Equity reporting and audits
  • Manage and maintain ESS and biometric systems

Requirements

Relevant Diploma or Degree in Finance / Payroll / HR

Minimum 5 years payroll experience (wages and salaries)

SAGE300 Payroll experience

Strong knowledge of South African payroll legislation

Experience with SARS eFiling, UIF submissions, and statutory reporting

Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook
