Job Description

Responsibilities : The Spot Buyer executes day-to-day buying of non-strategic items, including supplier identification, negotiation and supplier selection. Deliver sourcing results to contribute to saving targets while ensuring, that Service Level Agreements with the business are being met. Central Buyers are category orientated and may look after multiple categories where appropriate e.g. Professional Business Services. Organizational Chart The role will report to Procurement Team Leader. The role of the Buyer manages central purchasing requests in collaboration with the Procurement Specialist and guarantees efficient contract implementation. Also manages and closes out related procurement queries. In the role as a Buyer, they are responsible for ensuring the correct buying channel is utilized within the guidelines and framework managed. The Buyer is further responsible to ensure that all transactions are captured in the systems accurately and in accordance with Procurement Strategy. Describe the level of interaction within and outside of the company as well as the nature and purpose of the interaction. Active affiliation with appropriate Procurement Networks and organizations to ensure best practices are implemented with the campany. Interactions with Internal Stakeholders ensuring correct buying channels are utilised. Execution of centre led buys for related plant requirements Key Outputs and Accountabilities 1. Execution of Spot Buy process Search for potential suppliers within preferred supplier lists and identify additional suppliers if not on preferred supplier lists. Conduct RFQ/F (negotiation, supplier selection) and support responding suppliers in case of commercial or system related issues. Facilitate clarification of technical questions between internal stakeholders and suppliers where required. For selected spot buys follow-up on technical evaluations with internal stakeholders to ensure timeliness of tendering process. Execute negotiation, supplier selection and determine PO terms and conditions. Update Free Text purchase requests to ensure all relevant info is in place in order business can make decision on approval. Facilitate, manage and escalate (where appropriate) queries and issues relating to the execution of spot buys to appropriate stakeholders and interfaces (global or regional) according to collaboration models. Verify purchase request quality and correct buying channel for spot buy request. Where routed from the helpdesk, resolve claims and issues with spot buys 2. Close/change/modify Purchase Orders related to central buys Manage requisition changes or close PO if no longer needed Manage PO changes: Upon supplier/user request to amend POs, follow up with user/supplier to determine feasibility; change/modify POs if needed. If no resolution can be achieved escalate to team lead and other responsible persons using standard procedures Minimum requirement: National Diploma in related field with post graduate Supply Chain /Finance /Engineering. Added advantage: B.Tech Diploma or Bachelors Degree in Business Management/Engineering/Supply Chain/Finance. Minimum 3years of procurement experience in operational procurement roles. Additional Experience: Recognised qualification in procurement would be considered an asset. In depth knowledge of procurement.
