About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to join our client’s Restaurant Group based in Rosebank. As a key member of the procurement team, you will be responsible for managing both fresh and non-perishable categories across their stores, ensuring optimal stock levels and supplier relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately forecast demand and place orders based on stock movement, sales trends, and operational requirements
- Manage both perishable (fresh) and non-perishable categories with equal competence
- Maintain optimal stock levels, balancing availability, stock movement, and waste control
- Monitor and adjust orders in real time to respond to:
- Sales fluctuations
- Seasonal trends
- Supplier constraints
- Build and manage strong supplier relationships, ensuring:
- Reliable deliveries
- Consistent quality
- Efficient resolution of claims and discrepancies
- Work closely with store and receiving teams to resolve issues quickly and effectively
- Take ownership of key KPIs including availability, waste, stockholding, and supplier performance
- Operate across multiple systems to analyse data, track performance, and drive decision-making
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Buyer in a retail or FMCG environment
- Strong capability in both fresh and non-perishable buying
- Demonstrated ability to manage stock effectively under pressure
- Highly analytical with strong attention to detail
- Confident working across multiple systems and interpreting data
- Strong supplier management and negotiation skills
Qualifications
- Formal education/certifications (Bachelor’s, LLB, Matric, etc.)
