About the Role

This role is based in the MIS Department at the Bryanston facility and reports directly to the MIS Operations Manager. It is suited to qualified professionals who meet the role requirements and are seeking to contribute within a dynamic, operationally focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the VMware Virtual Infrastructure within the virtualized infrastructure and solutions.
  • Oversee the backup infrastructure and solutions for enterprise and operational technology using Veeam Backup & Replication.
  • Administer the user backup infrastructure effectively.
  • Manage the server hardware infrastructure and associated solutions.
  • Handle and execute special projects as assigned.
  • Liaise with and manage third-party contractors.
  • Maintain and update MIS documentation accurately.
  • Ensure strict compliance and conformance to Air Products’ safety procedures.
  • Adhere to and implement BSP (Basis Safety Practice) activities consistently.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience as a Systems Administrator on Windows Server is required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience as a VMware Administrator is essential.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience as an IBM Storage Administrator is required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience as a Backup Administrator using Veeam is necessary.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or equivalent is required. Certifications in MCSA/MCSE for Windows Server are mandatory. Certification as an MCITP Enterprise Administrator for Windows Server is essential. VMware Certified Professional (VCP6/VCP7/VCP8/VCP9) certification is required. IBM Certified Specialist credentials in System X, IBM Storage, IBM Tape, and IBM Fibre are mandatory. A Veeam Certified Backup Specialist certification is necessary.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced IT infrastructure professional to lead our enterprise IT infrastructure as a Specialist Support Engineer. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in virtualization, storage, and backup systems, with a strong technical background to support critical business operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and management of our VMware virtualized environment.
  • Administer and optimize the Veeam backup infrastructure, ensuring enterprise-level data protection.
  • Manage Windows Server environments, ensuring stability, security, and performance.
  • Oversee IBM Storage systems, including System X, Tape, and Fibre solutions.
  • Execute special IT projects and coordinate with third-party contractors to deliver robust solutions.
  • Maintain accurate MIS documentation and adhere to company safety procedures (BSP).
  • Participate in rotational on-call duties and support weekend/shift schedules as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or equivalent.

About the Role

We are seeking a Specialist Support Engineer to join our team in Johannesburg. As a key member of our support team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the stability, security, and continuous improvement of our enterprise banking applications. This is an 11-month contract opportunity that combines application support and DevOps practices to deliver reliable systems, manage upgrades and incidents, and drive improvements that enhance resilience and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply critical thinking, design thinking and problem-solving skills to solve technical problems on existing applications.
  • Implement all configurations, optimization (e.g. upgrades) & maintenance activity (e.g. regular maintenance patches) for enterprise-wide applications.
  • Provide efficient and effective support of applications including continued development of the application and security, software patches, reliability, disaster recovery and ensure the application meets the business needs.
  • Schedule and oversee planned maintenance tasks, such as backups and performance tuning, for production IT services to prevent and to minimize issues.
  • Maintain correct and current application documentation and make it available to application users.
  • Oversee application implementation and configuration, patches, upgrades and maintenance, and ensure that application performance meets agreed SLAs and OLAs.
  • Ensure minimal business operations impact due to upgrades and maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate and execute unplanned maintenance tasks, such as disaster recovery procedures, for production IT services to prevent and to minimize issues.
  • Manage applications throughout their lifecycle and assist in the application-related aspects of designing, testing, operating and improving technology products & services services.
  • Coordinate & communicate across Tribes & Squads (all businesses) to successfully complete application upgrades.
  • Coordinate with infrastructure & architecture teams to ensure that the impact of system / platform migrations on applications is minimized.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge in application functionality, user workflow, and business processes.
  • Develop sufficient knowledge of application infrastructure (server, network, security) & broader organization architecture to assist with application upgrades and troubleshooting issues.
