Key Responsibilities

• Ensure full compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and applicable regulations.
• Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits.
• Identify hazards and implement corrective and preventative measures.
• Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses; compile reports and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate safety records, registers, and documentation.
• Facilitate toolbox talks, safety training sessions, and awareness campaigns.
• Monitor and control the issuing and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Support emergency preparedness planning, fire safety compliance, and evacuation drills.
• Participate in internal and external SHE audits.
• Promote and maintain a proactive safety culture across the site.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric).
• National Diploma or Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety or related qualification.
• SAMTRAC qualification (advantageous).
• Registered with SACPCMP as a Safety Officer (advantageous or required depending on project/site).
• 3–5 years’ experience in a Safety Officer role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of OHSA and relevant health and safety legislation.
