Lichtenburg: PLC Technician

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated PLC Technician to join our team in Lichtenburg, South Africa. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, programming, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems and associated automation equipment to ensure efficient and reliable plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain PLC-based control systems.
• Diagnose and repair faults in PLC hardware, software, instrumentation, and control circuits.
• Modify and update PLC programs to improve system performance and reliability.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on automation equipment.
• Assist with commissioning and start-up of new equipment and production systems.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
• Conduct system testing, calibration, and performance verification.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and technical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational procedures.
• Provide technical support and training to operations and maintenance personnel as required.

Requirements

• National Diploma, Certificate, or Trade Qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, Instrumentation, or a related field.
• Minimum 35 years of experience working with PLC systems in an industrial, manufacturing, mining, water, or utilities environment.
• Practical experience with PLC platforms such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider Electric, Mitsubishi, or similar.
• Knowledge of SCADA, HMI, VSDs, instrumentation, and industrial communication networks.
