The purpose of this job is to ensure effective planning, coordination, and smooth execution of production processes within the factory environment. The Planner will manage production schedules, monitor stock and material requirements, and align resources to meet production targets, delivery deadlines, and quality standards. Responsibilities Responsible for the planning and smooth running of the production process within the Company. Production planning and supervision, including scheduling of production activities for each department and operation. Preparing and managing production schedules by function. Ensuring each operation meets shipping and delivery dates according to sales forecasts and customer order requirements. Analysing production specifications and plant capacity data to determine manufacturing processes, material requirements, tools, and labour needs. Ensuring all relevant departments update all inputs required for the plans. Responding promptly to production-related challenges such as staff shortages, material shortages, and machinery breakdowns. Maintaining systematic capacity and aggregate production plans. Aligning procurement, maintenance, and staffing plans with production requirements. Determining the status of work orders, expediting delayed operations, and adjusting schedules to accommodate unforeseen conditions. Ensuring effective communication between Sales, Estimating, and Heads of Departments to improve productivity and operational efficiency. Investigating and implementing improved operating systems and production planning processes. Enhancing internal benchmarking methodologies to improve production processes and systems. Applying effective production planning techniques to manage bottlenecks, address uncertainties, and optimise resource allocation. Assisting supply chain manager with various ad hoc tasks within the supply chain department Grade 12 (Matric). Project Management Certificate/Diploma will be advantageous. Production Management Diploma will be advantageous. Minimum of 2 years prior planning experience within a printing/packaging environment. Thorough understanding of production processes, preferably within the printing and packaging industry. Computer literate with intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Knowledge and application of Prism software. Project work experience. Valid unendorsed drivers licence and own reliable vehicle.
