Job Description
- Ensure application of and adherence to the Maintenance Information System (MaintainX) and ensure all assets are clearly marked and controlled with the Asset Register.
- Attend to breakdowns and prioritize jobs promptly.
- Plan and perform routine services, repairs and preventative maintenance of electro-mechanical equipment in a professional and cost-effective manner, timeously.
- Apply sound human resource principles, administration and control procedures to meet performance objectives.
- Ensure safety and housekeeping meet the standards set out in the Occupational Health and Safety Act and comply with all applicable ISO system requirements, ensuring continual improvement of these systems.
- Ensure that specified, approved and contractually required stock levels are maintained.
- Maintain a high standard of monitoring and reporting on electro-mechanical plant condition.
- Assist with specifications, sourcing, quality control of equipment required, refurbished or repaired, as well as pricing, tendering and implementation on new electrical, mechanical and civil installations.
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
- Qualified Millwright having undergone apprenticeship or equivalent training. Require a Section 13 or Section 26D certificate.
- E&I qualification and experience will be an advantage.
- Five years relevant experience in maintenance of large electrical and mechanical installations.
- Must have a strong electrical background and be able to troubleshoot accurately and quickly.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Instrumentation and controls aptitude and awareness will be beneficial.
- Knowledge of appropriate instrumentation principles and practices.
- Understanding of operating principles of plant equipment. Adequate knowledge of system structures and ability to troubleshoot systems using understanding of system design.
- Knowledge of operational and safety procedures related to maintenance activities, including safe use of tools and hand tools.
- Ability to maintain relevant records.
- Ability to read, interpret and understand data.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Basic understanding of the OHS Act and its application.
- Knowledge of VSD applications.
- Knowledge of medium voltage switchgear operating and maintenance principles would be an advantage.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Medically fit in line with client’s requirements. This includes working in a water treatment plant environment with exposure to noise, vibration, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, gases, solvents, toxic materials and hazardous chemicals within allowable exposure limits.
- Exposure to all weather and temperature conditions.
- Working in confined spaces and at heights.
- Ability to work and walk on various surfaces, including uneven surfaces.
- Sufficient physical ability for moderate to heavy lifting, prolonged standing and walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and operating motorized equipment.
- Good hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to see in the normal visual range with or without correction and hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
- Responsibilities may include support on other sites in the region.
- Must own a vehicle or have own transport.
- Must be willing to travel.
- Must have own accommodation within the region.
- Standby duties after hours and over weekends.
