Job Description

To provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making within an organization. They analyze financial data, prepare budgets and forecasts, and implement cost-saving measures to improve operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities: – Financial Records keeping – Recording approved supplier transactions in the accounting system – Reconciliation of supplier accounts for review and approval – Submission of supplier payments for review and approval – Reconciliation and follow-up of prepayments – Recording of approved customer transactions in the accounting system – Reconciliation of customer accounts for review and approval – Recording fixed assets depreciation in the accounting system – Identification of fixed assets purchasing – Reconciliation of fixed asset register – Calculation of value-added taxation for review and approval – Submission of VAT returns – Recording of Manufacturing transactions Financial reporting – Assist in the preparation of financial statements – Assist in engagements relating to audit of financial statements – Assist in internal audits of financial operating systems – Familiarity with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) or other applicable standards. – Detailed Cost reporting on manufacturing costs and processing costs – Detailed Inventory reporting – Proficiency in preparing and analysing manufacturing costs Cost Management: – Deep understanding of cost accounting principles, particularly standard and absorption costing. – Ability to calculate production costs, monitor variances, and implement cost-saving initiatives. – Knowledge of the full cost structure within smelting operations (e.g., raw materials, energy costs, labour). – Ability to analyse operational and financial data to provide insights for cost management and manufacturing Budgeting and Forecasting: – Ability to create and manage budgets specific to smelting operations. – coordination and recording of engagement relating to budget planning Industry-Specific Knowledge: – Familiarity with the mining and smelting industry, including production cycles, raw material procurement, and market trends. – Understanding of commodity price fluctuations and their impact on cost. Compliance with governance – Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements within the mining/smelting industry. – Compliance with company policies and procedures Software Proficiency: – Advanced skills in ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Sage) and accounting software. – Expertise in using Excel for complex financial modelling and analysis. The successful candidate will have to meet the following minimum requirements : Education – Grade 12 or equivalent. – Bachelors degree in accounting or finance. Experience – Minimum of 5 7 years experience in cost accounting, or a related role, demonstrating a strong understanding of cost accounting principles and practices – Minimum of 3 years experience in a mining or manufacturing environment – Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial modeling and Oracle Netsuite/ Sage /SAP Competencies/Skills – Accurate reconciliation of accounts. – Ability to calculate production costs, monitor variances, and implement cost-saving initiatives. – Excellent knowledge of accounting principles and standards. – Proficiency in financial software (Oracle Netsuite, Sage ). – Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. – Accountability – Innovation – Initiative – Attention to detail – Integrity – Professionalism – Ability to perform well without close supervision – Ability to handle complaints
