Job Description
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join our team at Communicate Finance in Newcastle. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing monthly payroll processes, capturing and processing supplier payments, and maintaining accurate financial records. They will also be required to prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports, perform cash flow forecasting and cash management, and reconcile debtors, creditors, general ledger accounts, and bank accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage monthly payroll processes
- Capture and process supplier payments
- Document financial transactions and maintain accurate financial records
- Reconcile debtors, creditors, general ledger accounts, and bank accounts
- Complete and submit all statutory and regulatory returns (South Africa & Namibia)
- Handle all SARS-related matters
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports
- Perform cash flow forecasting and cash management
- Reconcile inter-company loan accounts
- Assist with annual budget preparation
- Prepare Annual Financial Statements
- Maintain and enforce internal controls and manage the asset register
- Respond to ad hoc accounting requests and queries

Qualifications & Experience
- BCom or equivalent qualification (required)
- Financial Accounting Honours (advantageous)
- Knowledge of VAT and other tax legislation
- Knowledge of relevant financial legislation & accounting standards
- Proficiency in Xero (required) and SimplePay (advantageous)
- Minimum 5 years’ accounting experience
- Advanced computer literacy, especially Excel
