North West: Mining Superintendent posted by Marvel Placement Consultant

Minimum Requirements:

• Degree or Diploma in Mining Engineering or related qualification.
• Mine Overseer Certificate of Competency will be advantageous.
• Minimum of 8 years’ mining experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or superintendent-level role.
• Experience within open-pit or underground mining operations.
• Strong knowledge of mining methods, production planning, and operational management.
• Good understanding of health, safety, and mining regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency in mining software and Microsoft Office.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Operational Management

• Oversee daily mining operations to ensure production targets are achieved.
• Coordinate mining activities in line with operational schedules and plans.

Team Leadership

• Supervise and support mining supervisors, operators, and contractors.
• Promote a strong safety culture and high-performance work environment.

Production & Planning

• Monitor production performance and address operational challenges.
• Assist with short- and long-term mining plans and resource allocation.

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with mining legislation, company policies, and safety standards.
• Conduct inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.

Cost & Resource Management

• Monitor operational costs and equipment utilisation.
• Ensure efficient use of labour, materials, and mining equipment.

Reporting & Stakeholder Communication

• Prepare operational and production reports for management.
• Liaise with engineering, geology, and plant departments to ensure operational alignment.
