Our client is a well-established industry leader operating within a complex and fast-paced environment. They are seeking an accomplished Head of Finance to take ownership of the full finance function, providing strategic financial direction while ensuring strong governance, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency. In some organisations, this role may be referred to as a Senior Finance Manager; however, the scope and influence of the position are aligned with a true finance leadership role.

Reporting into executive leadership, you will oversee a finance team comprising 2 direct reports and 18 indirect reports, driving financial performance, strengthening internal controls, and supporting the achievement of business objectives. This is a fully onsite role offering significant exposure to both operational and strategic aspects of the business.

Key Responsibilities:
– Lead and manage the full finance function, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with statutory requirements.
– Partner with operational and executive teams to provide strategic financial insights that support business decision-making.
– Drive budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and performance management processes across the organisation.
– Strengthen internal controls, governance frameworks, and risk management practices.
– Lead, mentor, and develop finance teams, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
– Oversee cash flow management, working capital optimisation, and overall financial health of the business.
– Provide detailed financial analysis and recommendations to support operational efficiency and profitability initiatives.
– Ensure the delivery of accurate and timely management accounts and executive reporting.

Job Experience and Skills Required:

Education:
– CA(SA) qualification is non-negotiable.
– CIMA qualification or studies completed will be advantageous.
Experience:
– Minimum 10 years’ finance experience, with significant exposure to senior finance leadership roles.
– Proven experience within the manufacturing industry is essential.
– Mining industry exposure will be highly advantageous.
– Demonstrated success in leading and developing finance teams within operational environments.
– Strong understanding of financial strategy, business performance management, and commercial decision-making.

Skills:
– Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
– Strong financial modelling and analytical capabilities.
– Experience with ERP and financial reporting systems.
– Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
– Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
– Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution.
