Parow: Senior IT Technician

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior IT Technician to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for providing high-level technical support across the business, ensuring the stability, security, and service levels of our systems. With a strong background in servers, networks, and enterprise Microsoft environments, you will play a critical role in maintaining system performance and supporting our end-users.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide advanced technical support for hardware, software, and network-related tickets, ensuring closure within agreed SLA timeframes.
• Perform root cause analysis when troubleshooting complex technical issues.
• Support enterprise-level systems and applications including Microsoft 365, Power Apps, Azure, and on-site server environments.
• Conduct daily server health checks using RMM software to ensure optimal system performance.
• Liaise with suppliers and service providers to follow up on logged tickets and technical faults.
• Maintain and administer server storage solutions and network devices.
• Ensure the security, integrity, and availability of our organisation’s IT infrastructure.
• Perform regular system updates, patching, and backups.
• Monitor, respond to, and manage security incidents and threats.
• Implement and enforce IT policies, procedures, and standards.
• Maintain and administer the PABX system, including adding and configuring desk and cordless phones.
• Provide end-user support and education on existing and new technologies.
• Develop and maintain IT documentation, internal procedures, and user guides.

Requirements

• Strong IT support background with solid TCP/IP and networking knowledge.
• Hands-on experience with servers, firewalls, share drives, and network infrastructure.
• Experience with hypervisors, managed switches, and enterprise firewalls.
• Strong desktop support and Microsoft 365 administration experience.
• Relevant Microsoft certifications such as: Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, and Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator, or Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert.
• 4–6 years’ experience in a similar senior IT support role.

Qualifications

• Degree in Information Systems or Diploma in a related IT field, or equivalent certifications.
