About the Role
We are seeking a Fruit Receiving and Degreening Manager to join our team in Port Elizabeth, responsible for daily planning and operations, managing staff and Forklift fleet, with the aim of achieving agreed business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and implement relevant business policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions.
- Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Manage bin counts communicated to production planner.
- Investigate and compile bin transaction movements to ensure system matches physical.
- Manage drench (Cleaning and correct dosage of chemicals to use).
- Manage forklifts (Fruit receiving, packhouses & local Market).
- Ensure empty and full crates are scheduled to be delivered and collected.
- Ensure bins from Venco are clean.
- Ensure all loadouts to Venco matches the system.
- Follow degreening process as per company guidelines.
- Maintain good housekeeping in degreening rooms.
- Use ozone machine daily in degreening rooms.
- Ensure bins are clean from dust and rotten fruit when loading out to growers.
- Ensure quick turnaround time for loading and off-loading trucks for farmers.
Requirements
- 3 – 5 years’ experience at a junior management level.
- Agriculture or perishable goods knowledge is preferred.
- Must be innovative and detail oriented.
- Capable of managing multiple and high-priority tasks.
- Strong interpersonal skills to develop good working relationships at various levels.
- Strong organizational skills to ensure that daily operations run efficiently.
