About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electronic Technician with CAD design expertise to join our team in Pretoria. As a key member of our technical support, you will be responsible for providing expert guidance on electronic design work, PCB integration testing, and software development. With a strong background in electronics and CAD design, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of our products.
Key Responsibilities
- Telemeter and Production Procurement: Responsible for procurement of PCBs.
- Liaising with suppliers of PCBs AND Sourcing of components.
- Negotiating best possible pricing terms on components.
- Negotiating supplier agreements.
- Approval of quotes
- Development Support: Performing updates of Bills of Materials (“BOM”).
- Approving and signing off on BOMs.
- Building prototypes inclusive of integration.
- Doing modifications in support of the development team.
- Kitting of parts for the manufacturing of PCBs.
- Testing and assembling of PCBs.
- Conducting Design review of schematics.
- Electronic design work (selecting components, participating in schematic design, routing PCBs, reviewing other designs, etc).
- PCB integration testing (shortages, board bring up, testing functional blocks of PCB).
- Assisting in software development.
Requirements
- Grade 12 and a tertiary qualification in electronics (At least N4 Diploma)
- A minimum of 5 years of electronics experience
- Good hand skills such as soldering
- The ability to follow test procedures and use electronic testing equipment correctly.
- Computer literacy is essential (embedded linux advantageous)
