Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper/Accountant to join our team in Roodepoort. As a key member of our accounting services department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality financial management and support to our clients.

Key Responsibilities

Process and maintain accurate accounting records for multiple clients up to trial balance
Prepare monthly management accounts, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports
Perform bank, creditor, and debtor reconciliations
Manage accounts payable and receivable functions across various client portfolios
Process payroll for multiple clients, including payslips and reports
Compute PAYE, UIF, and SDL and ensure accurate and timely submission to SARS
Prepare and submit VAT returns to SARS in compliance with deadlines
Ensure compliance with South African tax legislation and accounting standards
Liaise with clients to obtain necessary financial information and provide support/advice
Assist with audit preparation and respond to auditor queries where required
Maintain proper filing systems and ensure data integrity across accounting platforms
Handle multiple client deadlines and prioritize workload effectively

Requirements

Certificate/Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
35 years experience in a bookkeeping or accounting role (preferably within an accounting firm or client services environment)
Solid experience processing accounts to trial balance
Proven experience preparing management accounts
Experience with payroll processing and statutory submissions
Working knowledge of SARS eFiling (VAT, PAYE, UIF, SDL submissions)
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, Pastel)
Strong understanding of VAT and payroll tax regulations in South Africa
Ability to manage multiple clients and meet strict deadlines
