About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Guest Relations Officer to join our dynamic team at a 5-star hotel in Sandton. As a key member of our reception team, you will be responsible for ensuring that every guest has an exceptional experience during their stay.
Key Responsibilities
- Take control of your shift once coming on duty, as you are responsible for all tasks to be completed during your shift.
- Ensure all guests coming to the reception desk are welcomed with a smile and in a friendly, prompt and efficient manner.
- Check in/out guests efficiently following correct procedures.
- Carry out tasks effectively using computerized system, to inform guests of any additional services available within the hotel in order to maximize sales.
- Answer telephone quickly and deal with caller in a warm and welcoming manner.
- Correctly take messages for guests and staff, ensuring that time, date, message, from / to are initialled and noted.
- Record information in the logbook daily.
- Dealing with guest requests, queries & complaints in a polite attentive manner and reporting any problems to the duty manager.
- Balancing cash at the end of shift.
- Managing reception floats and ordering bank charges as necessary.
- Ensuring all monies are kept secure at all times.
Requirements
- Grade 12
- A formal qualification in hospitality management
- At least 2 years’ experience in a high-end hotel / resort
- Strong organisational skills
- Knowledge of working practices of sales
- Reasonable knowledge of computer systems
- Ability to cope with pressure
- Good interpersonal skills required
- Knowledge of relevant quest satisfaction standards
