About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Head of Finance to join our team at Ster-Kinekor Theatres Pty Ltd in Sandton. As the finance business partner, you will be responsible for managing the overall financial function of the company and its two foreign subsidiaries, ensuring compliance with various statutory and regulatory requirements in South Africa, Zambia, and Namibia.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and finalize monthly close
- Ensure integrity of reporting to shareholders
- Present expense analysis to operational managers, together with variance analysis and expectations for improvement
- Manage working capital, including:
- Ensuring timeous settlement of claims from creditors
- Prompt settlement of outstanding amounts from debtors
- Maintaining commercial levels of stock
- Implement risk management strategies, including:
- Ensuring integrity of the control environment
- Periodically checking outputs to expectations
- Mitigating known risks through preventative or detective controls
- Continuously seek ways to reduce costs and improve processes, working in conjunction with auditors
- Plan and manage audit budgets, ensuring risks identified in previous audits have been adequately mitigated
- Calculate tax computation and deferred tax calculations
- Lead the audit process and manage communication from start to end
- Ensure timely payment of VAT, Payroll deductions, Provisional Tax, and Assessed tax
- Maintain integrity of salary increases and bonus calculations
- Perform monthly commission calculations
Requirements
- Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting
- Articles from one of the Professions leading accounting firms
- Chartered Accountant experience
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years commercial experience, preferably in the retail/entertainment/leisure industries
- Thorough working knowledge of ERPs
- Communicative skills, both verbal and written
- Managerial skills
- Analytical skills
- Presentation skills
- Understanding of statutory accounting requirements and IFRS
- Understanding of tax principles
- Understanding of risk management
- Understanding of the audit process
- Understanding of Common and Commercial law
