About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our team at a progressive private school in Sandton, South Africa. The ideal candidate will provide integrated speech and language therapy services within our school environment while also establishing and managing their own independent private practice on site. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide speech and language therapy services to learners within the school environment
- Conduct assessments, screenings, and early identification of speech, language, and communication needs
- Deliver individual and small-group interventions aligned to learner needs and developmental milestones
- Collaborate closely with teachers, learning support staff, and families to embed support into daily learning
- Contribute to preventative, inclusive support models rather than isolated pull-out therapy
- Support language development within Learning Hubs and enquiry-based learning environments
- Educate and guide parents and educators through practical strategies and feedback
- Maintain accurate clinical records, reports, and professional documentation
Requirements
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
- Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)
- 5 years relevant clinical experience working with children
- Strong experience in early childhood and Foundation Phase language development
- Competence in assessment, diagnosis, intervention planning, and progress reporting
