Job Summary

We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of our financial records, from daily bookkeeping to the preparation of management accounts. This role is perfect for a detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of accounting principles and experience in the fast-paced FMCG or restaurant industry. Key Responsibilities: Financial Processing & Reconciliation: Perform end-to-end processing and reconciliation of key accounts including: Debtors (Accounts Receivable) Creditors (Accounts Payable) allocation and coding of invoices Cashbook, petty cash, and company credit cards Multi-currency bank accounts and daily deposit reconciliations Prepare and post standard and adjusting journal entries (monthly accruals, payroll, depreciation). Maintain and update the fixed asset register for new builds, revamps, and disposals. Financial Reporting & Analysis: Maintain complete and accurate accounting records up to the trial balance. Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly management accounts. Conduct food cost analysis, corroboration, and follow-up on variances. Support the coordination and planning of the annual budget process. Compliance & Administration: Prepare and submit periodic VAT returns. Ensure accurate and timely processing of salaries and wages. Maintain and manage the beneficiary list on the online banking system. Prepare and authorize payment batches. Maintain organised and audit-ready monthly financial files. Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor of Commerce (B.Comm) degree in Accounting or Finance. Minimum of 2-3 years of proven experience in bookkeeping and full-cycle accounting. Essential: High proficiency in Sage Evolution. Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Advanced Excel skills are essential). Fluency in English, both written and verbal. Advantageous Skills: Experience applying IFRS/GAAP in a retail or office environment. Previous experience within the FMCG or restaurant/hospitality industry. Experience with payroll processing systems. Personal Attributes: High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. High degree of integrity and professionalism.

Job Summary

Duties and responsibilities: End-to-End Reconciliation : Own and manage the full reconciliation lifecycle for event-related payment flows, including ticketing and cashless systems. Event Settlement : Oversee and validate the settlement process with event organizers. Confirm fund flows, reconcile commissions & fees, and payouts to ensure accurate disbursements and realizing of total revenue. Treasury and Banking : Lead daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation processes between the payment platform, bank accounts, and third-party payment gateways. Cash Management : Supervise event cash management, including onsite recons and being the point-of-contact for cash teams over weekends. Provide training and troubleshooting issues in real time. Systems and Controls : Collaborate with internal product and engineering teams to automate reconciliation and reporting tools. Improve existing systems and contribute to the rebuilding of the treasury framework. Audit and SOP Compliance : Maintain and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for reconciliation, audit trails, settlement protocols, and reporting. Cross-functional Communication : Serve as a financial liaison in event escalations. Report back to Customer Success and Executive teams regarding any event related queries. Commercial Contribution : Provide input into the commercials of the events by: Reviewing quoting structures to ensure cost recovery. Monitoring and improving margin performance on events. Requirements: Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field. CIMA/SAIPA/SAICA articles advantageous. 35 years of experience in financial operations or financial analysis roles, preferably in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment. Experience in the events, fintech, SaaS, or payment processing industries is a bonus. High proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets, with experience in building automated reconciliation processes. Comfortable using or adapting to financial systems, CRMs, or ERP platform Proven experience in building, implementing, or improving financial systems, whether through automation, system integrations, or process enhancements.
