About the Role
The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for conducting quality control testing on raw materials and finished paints, measuring various physical properties, preparing laboratory batches, and assisting with paint and coating formulation trials.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct quality control testing on raw materials and finished paints
- Measure viscosity (KU/Brookfield), density, solids, gloss, and colour
- Prepare laboratory batches and drawdown panels
- Assist with paint and coating formulation trials
- Maintain laboratory records and prepare test reports
- Assist in investigation of product complaints and technical issues
- Ensure laboratory equipment is maintained and calibrated
- Follow ISO 9001 laboratory procedures and safety standards
- Carry out instructions as provided by senior management of the Company
Requirements
- South African citizen with valid South African ID
- Diploma or Degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Technology, or related field
- Minimum 3 years laboratory experience (paint/coatings industry advantageous)
- Basic understanding of coating test methods
- Good attention to detail and record keeping
- Ability to work independently and within a team
