About the Role
Deka Minas (Pty) Ltd is seeking a qualified and experienced Music Teacher to join our team in Qatar. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality music education to secondary school students following the British curriculum, inspiring their musical development and creativity through performance, theory, and appreciation.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver music lessons for Key Stages 3 and 5 in line with the British curriculum.
- Teach music theory, composition, performance, and appreciation across a variety of musical genres.
- Prepare students for music examinations, performances, and school productions.
- Assess and track student progress; provide constructive feedback and academic support.
- Develop and maintain a stimulating classroom environment conducive to learning and creativity.
- Coordinate with the school leadership and arts department for school events and concerts.
- Encourage and oversee extracurricular musical activities such as choir, band, and ensemble groups.
- Maintain positive communication with students, parents, and colleagues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Music or Music Education (completed through face-to-face learning) Mandatory
- PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) Mandatory for UK applicants
- SACE (South African Council for Educators) Mandatory for South African applicants
- Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in a British curriculum school preferred.
- Experience preparing students for musical performances and exams (e.g., ABRSM, Trinity) is an advantage.
