Job Description

Wine Estate based in the Stellenbosch I Brackenfell area is looking for a People Operations Lead to join their people team and play a key role in supporting a dynamic ; high-volume hospitality environment. This is an operational leadership role, ideal for someone with strong employee relations expertise who thrives in a fast-paced setting and is confident working closely with line management. Reporting to the Director of People ; the People Operations Lead will take ownership of the day-to-day HR function ; ensure effective delivery of HR operations and provide practical; consistent support to managers across the business. You will lead all employee relations processes ; guide managers through complex people matters ; and ensure HR practices are applied fairly and consistently. Duties: Lead all employee relations matters, including disciplinaries, grievances, and incapacity processes Chair hearings and ensure compliance with labour legislation and internal policies Provide clear, practical guidance to line managers on people-related matters Manage and support the HR team Support the management team with HR related matters Oversee HR operations across the full employee lifecycle including talent acquisition; learning & development; onboarding and off boarding Ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance in HR processes and documentation Support the implementation of HR policies and initiatives across the business Work collaboratively with the Payroll and Finance team to ensure accurate monthly payroll reporting Prepare for and represent the business at CCMA (or manage external representation where required) Requirements: A relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Labour Law, or a related field At least 58 years HR experience, with a strong focus on employee relations A self-starter who takes initiative and thinks on their feet Proven experience managing disciplinaries and chairing hearings Solid knowledge of South African labour legislation Experience in hospitality, retail, or other high-volume environments advantageous Strong leadership capability and ability to guide and support a team Confident; assertive, and solutions-driven approach Ability to work at pace and handle complex, operational environments
