About the Role
The Project Manager position at our client’s Sugar Conglomerate in East Africa is a critical role that requires coordination and leadership to ensure project delivery on time, within scope, and within budget. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing projects from initiation to completion, working closely with internal resources and third-party vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects
- Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
- Develop project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
- Ensure resource availability and allocation
- Develop a detailed project plan to track progress
- Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs
- Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques
- Report and escalate to management as needed
- Perform risk management to minimize project risks
- Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
- Maintain budgets and optimize expenses
- Set policies and processes
- Evaluate and improve operations and financial performance
- Direct the employee assessment process
- Prepare regular reports for upper management
- Ensure staff follows health and safety regulations
- Provide solutions to issues (e.g. profit decline, employee conflicts, loss of business to competitors)
Requirements
- Engineering Degree – Electrical or Mechanical
- Business Management Degree or Diploma (MBA or similar)
- 1-15 years project management experience

Salary & Benefits
The selected candidate will sign an initial contract for a period of 2 years, which would be renewable for further periods of 2 years each. The remuneration structure includes:
- 1st part: Representing the expatriates’ net salary is directly paid either in Uganda in US Dollars or a nominated offshore account and is tax-free.
- Salary Band for this position: US$ (as discussed, still to be negotiated).
- Local Living Allowance: A local allowance is paid which is taxable in Uganda. The balance after tax is adequate to meet normal living expenses of the family.
- Annual Gratuity: An annual gratuity is paid at the rate of one month’s external salary for each completed year of service.
- National Social Security Fund: The company will contribute 15% (10% of employer and 5% of employee) of your external salary towards NSSF contributions till you attain the age of 55 years.
- Medical: You will be entitled to self and family medical insurance/reimbursement as well as hospital cover per company regulations and congruent to your Salary Band.
- Vehicle / Transportation: You will be provided with a company vehicle or transportation by the company.
- Accommodation: The company provides family accommodation, normally expecting employees to be accompanied by their families.
- Work Permits and Visas: Successful candidates work permit/visa (for self/family) costs and travel are arranged by the company.
- Annual Leave: 30 days paid leave per year
- Air Passages: Paid for self, spouse, and two children (below 18 years of age), to point of origin to run in conjunction with annual leave cycle.
