About the Role
The Senior Psychologist role at Nelson Mandela University is a critical position that coordinates and supervises student counselling programme and service delivery to the university communities in accordance with the mission of the Centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a professional counselling service to university students, increasing accessibility to services through internal and external community engagement, and ensuring effective programme development and implementation across all sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise site-specific programme and service delivery, including management of site human resources, equipment, and consumables.
- Monitor, evaluate, and report functions.
- Provide a professional counselling service to university students in accordance with the HPCSAs Scope of Practice for Psychologists, in the areas of neurocognitive, career, and psychosocial wellbeing.
- Increase accessibility to services through internal and external community engagement.
Requirements
- At least a Master’s degree, and preferably a Doctoral degree, in Psychology.
- Be a Psychologist (Counselling, Clinical or Educational) registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
- Have at least 5 years experience in student counselling, career, and development programmes and services regarding student access, retention, and success.
