Are you a strong Store Manager from the hardware, building materials or home improvement sector looking for an exciting international opportunity?
A major hardware and home improvement retail operation in Malawi is seeking an experienced Store Manager to lead the operations of a large-format retail store serving both retail customers and trade professionals.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands how to run a high-volume retail environment, drive sales performance, manage stock tightly and lead a strong operational team.
The store carries an extensive product range across hardware, electrical, tiles, paint, building materials and homeware, servicing contractors, developers and retail customers alike.
Your Role
As a Store Manager you will take full responsibility for the commercial and operational performance of the store, including:
- Leading the daily operations of a large retail environment
Driving sales growth, profitability and operational excellence
Managing procurement, suppliers and product sourcing
Maintaining strict stock control and inventory management
Building strong relationships with contractors and trade clients
Leading, training and motivating a high-performing team
Ensuring exceptional customer experience and store standards
Managing store performance against financial and operational KPIs
This is a visible leadership role on the shop floor, not a desk job.
Ideal Background
This role will suit a South African retail professional with experience in:
- Hardware / Building Materials Retail
- Home Improvement Retail
- Trade Supply / Contractor-focused retail environments
Experience from companies or similar hardware / building supply retailers
Key Requirements
- 7+ years retail management experience
- Proven experience managing large-format retail stores
- Strong procurement and stock management experience
- Excellent commercial and financial management ability
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Hands-on, practical and operational leadership style
Expatriate Package
The successful candidate will receive a competitive expatriate package including:
ZAR 50,000 Net Salary per month (in hand)
Furnished accommodation provided

Annual return flights to point of origin aligned with leave cycle
