Job Description

Our client is seeking a Tax Compliance Supervisor for their team.

Location: Port Elizabeth

Requirements: 

  1. Grade 12 with accounting as a subject
  2. Tax or other relevant qualifications with a decent track record of work experience (5 years)
  3. Experience in a tax environment is essential
  4. Registered Tax Practitioner or eligibility to be registered
  5. Computer literacy
  6. Ability to interpret and apply the Income Tax Act, Tax Administration Act and VAT Act for various tax
  7. related projects.
  8. Ability to work meticulously with minimum supervision
  9. Liaising with SARS (proven track record of SARS appointments)
  10. Strong knowledge of tax compliance processes
  11. Fair competency with regard to the interpretation of tax law
  12. Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Express)
  13. GreatSoft
  14. SARS E-Filing
  15. Working knowledge of the Income Tax Act and Tax Administration Act
  16. Working knowledge of the SARS dispute resolution process
  17. LexisNexis (A fair understanding would be advantageous)

About:
Assisting with the supervision of the tax department staff. Advise staff on tax compliance-related issues. Assist the tax manager with the research of tax information, processing of tax queries, and liaising with SARS. To assist with the management of the flow of work and ensure quality delivery of work outputs of tax staff in relation to audits, income tax returns, provisional tax returns, Tax Ombud complaints, objections, appeals and tax exemption applications. Assist the tax manager with the dispute resolution process and be responsible for the follow-up of all disputes.
