• To coordinate evaluation of recruited participants in the different studies and assist other nurses in their daily work

Location:

• Bara Cardiology, Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, Department of Cardiology, Soweto

Key performance areas:

• To do study related duties as specified by the protocol
• To assess and recognize cardiac illnesses in participants for clinical trials
• To recruit participants as per protocol for clinical trials
• To assist study dr and other nurses in performing study activities
• Follow-up participants and study related activities at study visits
• Collect specimens and process specimens for collection by couriers
• To complete study documents accurately and timeously
• Communicate routinely as needed to the study coordinator and Principal investigator regarding clinical management of subjects.
• Attend and resolve queries that are generated by data management staff.
• Do proper filing of results and any other study related documents in the relevant assigned place
• Follow up of patients and scheduling of appointments

Required minimum education and training:

• Grade 12
• Qualified as an Enrolled Nurse
• Good Clinical Practice Certificate will be advantageous
• Computer skills advantageous
• Relevant research experience

Professional Body Registration:

• Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as an Enrolled Nurse

Required minimum work experience:

• 2 years’ Experience in a Research Field as an Enrolled Nurse
• Ability to draw and process blood samples

Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:

• Ability to lead and work independently as well as be part of a multidisciplinary team
• A friendly, informal attitude with excellent people skills
• Ability to speak in local languages
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Ability to adapt to changing environment within the project needs
