About the Role
Efficiency Staffing Solutions (Pty) Ltd is seeking an experienced Sandblaster to join our team in Steelpoort. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient and safe blasting operations, adhering to project specifications and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Blast steel and structural surfaces to required cleanliness standards (Sa 2.5 / Sa 3 per ISO 8501-1)
- Operate blasting equipment safely: compressor, hoses, nozzles, dead-man switch, and air-fed PPE
- Achieve specified surface profile 50-75 microns using replica tape as directed by QC
- Conduct pre-start checks on abrasive quality, air oil/water tests, and equipment integrity
- Maintain blasting angle, distance, and technique to avoid surface damage
- Remove dust and debris via vacuum after blasting and ensure surface is ready for the coating crew
- Follow Safety rules, permit-to-work, and confined procedures
Requirements
- National Senior Certificate advantageous
- Minimum 3 years relevant work experience
- Knowledge of ISO 8501, SPPC-SP10, surface preparation standards and coating systems
- Valid Sandblaster Competency
- Confined space Working at Heights Ability
