Steelpoort: Rubber Liner

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Rubber Liner to join our team at Steelpoort. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting and preparing steel surfaces, cutting and installing rubber lining sheets, and performing hot vulcanization operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect and prepare steel surfaces: degrease, grit blast to Sa 2.5 / Sa 3, and verify surface profile before lining.
  • Cut, fit and install cold bond or hot vulcanized rubber lining sheets to chutes, hoppers, launders, and pipes per engineering drawings.
  • Apply adhesives, primers, and bonding agents following manufacturer specifications and cure times.
  • Use skiving tools, rollers, and presses to ensure full contact and eliminate air pockets.
  • Perform hot vulcanization: operate autoclaves, heating blankets, and temperature controls safely.
  • Conduct spark testing and visual QC checks to ensure lining integrity and delamination.
  • Read and interpret drawings, lining specifications, and work packs from engineers / planners.

Requirements

  • 3 years Rubber Lining experience in Mining.
  • Proven skill in both cold bond and hot vulcanization methods.
  • Autoclave operation experience will be a plus.
  • Knowledge of surface preparation standards ISO 8501 coating / lining specifications.
  • Good hand-eye coordination, attention to detail, and quality focus.

Qualifications

  • Confined Space Entry Working at Heights certification preferred.
  • Physically fit for manual work, lifting, and shifting work in dusty / noisy conditions.
