About the Role
The Head of Procurement position at iStaff (Pty) Ltd is a critical role that requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in European/Group Procurement and financial management. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, and driving cost savings initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage cost-effective supply contracts (KPIs, SLAs), including bottling
- Liaise with suppliers (local/EU) on agreements, pricing, and escalate issues to COO
- Negotiate optimal pricing and rebates for dry goods and exports
- Evaluate and build supplier relationships; source new ones
- Develop/manage budgets and tenders for bottling and related areas
- Ensure regular supplier monitoring and performance reviews
- Optimize overseas bottling costs and production
- Drive overseas bottling decisions with stakeholders
- Control related financial variances
- Streamline bottling procurement
- Lead EU/UK procurement for best value
- Resolve procurement issues
- Collaborate with NPD/Sales on procurement
- Improve international procurement governance
- Reduce excess stock and supply risks; lower inventory costs
- Implement P2P and standardize purchasing
- Research supplier markets and improve order accuracy
- Decrease supply variability
- Supervise staff, ensure clear communication, and resolve complex issues
- Manage performance and identify training needs
- Advise on stock optimization for overseas bottling
- Lead strategic procurement, negotiate, build relationships, provide policy guidance, and manage risks
- Drive continuous improvement using best practices
- Stay current with industry trends
- Ensure minimal stock levels
- Manage overseas bottling recoveries and invoice approvals
- Participate in management reviews and provide financial information
- Control key stock reports
- Align global contracts with strategy
- Ensure effective use of SAGE and related systems
- Monitor/report on Rework, Deviations, CARs, and Complaints
- Proactively flag dry goods delivery issues
- Maintain global stock loss reports
- Lead group cost-saving projects
- Influence for improvement and build strategic relationships
- Report on and implement cost reduction strategies
- Manage savings, service improvements, supplier base, and stakeholder relations
- Inform Sales on aged stock
- Ensure QMS adherence by self and staff
- Follow QMS protocols and maintain security
- Participate in quality seminars
- Adhere to GMP
- Manage quality assurance documents and supplier files
- Attend HACCP and H&S meetings/training
- Collaborate on safety compliance
Requirements
- Matric
- Relevant FMCG Procurement qualification
- Advanced Excel and Sage
- Financial background (Accounting qualification preferred)
- European/Group Procurement experience
- 5+ years similar role in operations/manufacturing with costing
- CIPS qualification
