A leading yacht rigging and manufacturing company is looking for an experienced Designer with strong experience in mechanical draughting and proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks to join their team in Montague Gardens. The company specialises in designing and producing custom and production catamaran and monohull aluminium rig packages, masts, spars, and components. The ideal candidate will have a background in boat building, aluminium, or metal manufacturing and must be able to design from scratch, not just replicate existing designs.

Responsibilities:

• Create and update mechanical drawings for masts, spars, and components using CAD software.

• Ensure all drawings are accurate, detailed, and compliant with industry standards.

• Collaborate with design and engineering teams to translate concepts into technical drawings.

• Maintain a library of drawings and ensure version control.

• Perform quality checks on drawings to eliminate errors.

• Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure accuracy of materials.

• Support the production team with drawings, specifications, and technical guidance.

• Assist in developing and improving design and manufacturing processes.

• Keep up to date with industry trends and new technologies.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years hands-on design experience.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks (non-negotiable).

• Background in boat building, aluminium, or metal manufacturing highly preferred.

• Intuitive design ability with the capability to design from scratch.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of engineering principles.

• Hands-on experience (e.g. welding, fabrication, boat or mast building) is beneficial.

• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate technical drawings.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

• Commitment to quality, adaptability, and a strong work ethic.
