About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Finance Clerk / Bookkeeper to join our team at West Coast Personnel. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to take ownership of day-to-day bookkeeping functions in a fast-moving environment, working closely with company shareholders. Accuracy, accountability, and a proactive mindset are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain SARS-compliant financial records using Pastel Accounts
- Prepare and process customer invoicing
- Manage debtors and creditors, including follow-ups
- Perform bank reconciliations
- Assist with payroll processing and commission calculations
- Prepare VAT reconciliations and supporting schedules
- Monitor and update cash flow information
- Manage purchase orders and supplier documentation
- Assist with data analysis and preparation of basic management accounts
- Compile simple performance and KPI reports
- Act as the first point of contact for internal finance-related queries
- Maintain confidentiality and accuracy when handling sensitive financial information
- Support shareholders with ad hoc finance-related tasks
Requirements
- Afrikaans as a 1st language and English as a 2nd
- Matric certificate
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in this full function
- Relevant bookkeeping or accounting qualification (certificate or diploma)
- Practical exposure to Pastel Accounts or similar accounting software
- Understanding of VAT, payroll, and reconciliations
- Comfortable working with numbers and MS Excel
- Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Qualifications
- Afrikaans language proficiency (as a 1st language)
- Matric certificate as minimum educational requirement
