Reporting to the Finance Department, this role will work closely with operations, supply chain, and production teams to identify key cost drivers, optimize throughput, and enhance financial performance. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a process-driven mindset, and an eagerness to apply Lean Manufacturing, cost analysis, and data-driven decision-making to improve overall efficiency and profitability. Key Responsibilities: Throughput Cost Identification & Analysis Analyse bottlenecks and constraints in production processes to improve throughput and reduce unit costs Work with finance and operations teams to develop cost-per-unit models, tracking key cost drivers across different production stages. Identify cost trends in labour, material usage, equipment efficiency, and changeover times that impact throughput. Provide recommendations on reducing downtime, improving yield, and maximizing output with minimal cost increases. Process Optimization & Efficiency Improvement Assist in reducing cycle times and increasing throughput by analyzing and optimizing production workflows. Support Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives to minimize waste, improve line balancing, and optimize resource allocation. Evaluate machine utilization rates and recommend automation or scheduling improvements to enhance throughput. Collaborate with production teams to implement best practices for increasing overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). Cost Reduction & Financial Impact Assessment Work with finance to calculate the financial impact of throughput improvements and cost-saving initiatives. Assist in budgeting and forecasting cost savings related to throughput enhancements. Track and report on cost-per-unit changes resulting from process improvements. Support initiatives to lower raw material waste, rework, and overproduction costs. Supply Chain & Inventory Cost Control Analyze inventory turnover and material handling costs to identify opportunities for cost reduction. Assist in supplier cost analysis to optimize procurement strategies. Work with operations to improve inventory flow and minimize raw material shortages affecting throughput. Data Analysis & Performance Monitoring Utilize Excel, Power BI, ERP, and MES systems to collect and analyze production and cost data. Develop reports and dashboards to track throughput metrics, cost trends, and process efficiency. Assist in predictive modelling for throughput optimization and cost forecasting. Qualifications & Requirements: BEng in Industrial Engineering. 0-2 years of experience in industrial engineering, throughput analysis, or process improvement (internships or co-op experience in manufacturing is a plus). Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, SQL, or ERP systems). Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and throughput optimization techniques. Ability to collaborate with finance, production, and supply chain teams to drive cost and throughput improvements. Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with a keen eye for cost-saving opportunities. Preferred Skills: Internship or coursework in throughput analysis, operations management, or financial modelling. Familiarity with food manufacturing processes and cost structures. Knowledge of bottleneck analysis, constraint management, and production flow optimization. Certification or coursework in Lean Six Sigma is a plus.
