About the Role
Hire Resolve’s client is seeking a skilled SQL Database Administrator to join their team in Durban. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance tuning of databases hosted on Windows platforms. This role involves ensuring the reliability, security, and optimal performance of database systems, as well as providing technical support and troubleshooting for database-related issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain database management systems (DBMS) on Windows servers, including Oracle, My-SQL, and Postgress.
- Monitor and optimize database performance, including query tuning and indexing.
- Implement and manage database backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Provide technical support and resolve database-related issues reported by users or identified through monitoring tools.
Requirements
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, Oracle Database Administrator) are advantageous.
- Proven experience as a Database Administrator, particularly in a Windows environment.
- Proficiency with database management systems such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL.
- Experience with database performance tuning, backup, and recovery.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell or SQL.
- Exposure to cloud technologies (e.g., AWS & Azure).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
