Hire Resolves client in the Solar Industry is urgently seeking the expertise of a Operations & Maintenance Engineer in Cape Town.

- Head of Engineering and O&M
- Chief Technical Officer
Job Overview:
- Assist the Asset Manager and Operation and Maintenance Technical Manager in engineering-related matters.
- Commission renewable energy systems.
- Design repairs and rectifications for renewable energy systems.
- Predict project costings accurately.
- Monitor system productions and identify causes of under-performance accurately.
- Automate reports in the Operation and Maintenance Department.
- Ensure designed system repairs are operationally robust.
- Stay updated with technological developments in the Solar Thermal & Solar PV Industry.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist Project Management team with commissioning of renewable energy plants.
- Drive automation of all reports in the Operation and Maintenance Department.
- Prepare budgets for proposed project repairs.
- Create detailed drawings for technicians.
- Update and maintain as-built drawings.
- Measure and create bills of quantities for repairs.
- Accurately monitor system performance and reasons for under-performance.
- Ensure all sites meet performance expectations and rectify system downtime promptly.
- Manage the ticketing system.
- Configure systems on the monitoring platform.
- Improve reporting and monitoring functionality of the Operation and Maintenance Department.
- Assist project-specific Asset Managers and Operation Technical Managers with site issues.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent computer literacy, including knowledge of solar plant software and hardware.
- Proficient in IT systems underlying renewable energy plants.
- Proficient in PV solar systems, storage systems, generators, and hot water systems.
- Knowledgeable in big data utilization for streamlining outputs.
- Strong programming skills for big data and report automation.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational, time management, leadership, and decision-making skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder interactions.
- Knowledge of applicable codes, policies, standards, and best practices.
- Ability to work within budgets and deadlines.
- Attention to detail.
Requirements:
- B.Eng, BSc. Eng, B.Tech Eng in Mechanical, Mechatronics or Electro-Mechanical.
- Eligible to register with the Engineering Council of South Africa.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in operations and maintenance of solar power systems.
- Knowledge of solar PV systems, inverters, batteries, and monitoring systems.
- Experience with solar performance monitoring and reporting.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to solar power systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
