Job Vacancy: Senior Electrical Engineer (Heavy Current)

Position Overview: Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer (Heavy Current) to join our their team in Sandton, South Africa. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy current electrical engineering, with a proven track record of successfully managing complex projects from conception to completion. Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of heavy current electrical systems for a range of projects, including infrastructure, power generation, and industrial facilities.
- Conduct feasibility studies, site surveys, and technical assessments to determine project requirements and constraints.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation in accordance with industry standards and client specifications.
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams, including architects, mechanical engineers, and project managers, to ensure seamless project execution.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project staff.
- Conduct quality assurance reviews and inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and engineering standards.
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to address project challenges and achieve project objectives.
- Stay current with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in heavy current electrical engineering.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PrEng) registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in heavy current electrical engineering, with a focus on design and project management.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical systems design, power distribution, and protection coordination.
- Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, ETAP, and SKM PowerTools.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
