About the Role
WMS Secure is a dynamic company seeking an experienced SAQCC Fire Detection Technician to join our team. As a registered technician, you will be responsible for installing, servicing, testing, and maintaining fire detection and fire protection systems in accordance with SAQCC, SANS standards, and company quality and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, service, and maintain fire detection systems (addressable and conventional)
- Carry out fire protection pipe fitting including cutting, threading, grooving, and installing steel, copper, and CPVC piping
- Install and maintain detectors, panels, cabling, and related fire equipment
- Conduct testing, commissioning, fault-finding, and system handovers
- Ensure compliance with SANS 10139, SANS 1475, SANS 10400-T, and SAQCC regulations
- Read and interpret technical drawings, layouts, and schematics
- Complete inspection checklists, service reports, and compliance documentation
- Liaise with clients, site managers, and inspectors during installations and audits
- Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles in good condition
- Adhere strictly to health, safety, and quality standards on site
Requirements
- SAQCC Fire Detection Technician registration (valid and in good standing)
- Matric
- Proven experience in fire detection systems installation and maintenance
- Pipe fitting experience within fire protection systems (sprinkler/detection integration)
- Sound knowledge of relevant SANS standards
- Ability to work independently and on construction or industrial sites
- Valid driver’s licence
Qualifications
- SAQCC registration in Fire Suppression (advantage)
