Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage and motivate operational staff, ensuring proper structure, staffing and succession planning.
- Maintain high service standards to prevent business loss and maximize client satisfaction.
- Keep clients informed about shipment status and provide prompt, courteous service.
- Resolve client complaints efficiently and engage personally when required.
- Conduct regular client visits to ensure service excellence and retention.
- Manage third-party transporters and suppliers to ensure reliability and compliance.
- Support operational staff with guidance and technical expertise.
- Review operational systems and ISO procedures, recommend improvements and participate in audits.
- Assist with acquisition of new business.
- Ensure compliance with national/international legal requirements, shipping, airline policies and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
- Conduct recruitment, interviews and recommend salary increases/bonuses.
- Attend industry meetings, seminars and training as required.
- Prepare business reports, statistics and branch budgets.
- Monitor rates, tariffs, customs issues, marine claims and ensure financial targets are met.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 7 years in Freight Forwarding and Clearing operations (not Courier).
- Minimum of 3-5 years management experience.
- Grade 12 or equivalent NQF qualification.
- Proficient in MS Excel.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Extensive multimodal logistics experience.
- Excellent administration skills and attention to detail.
- Strong planning and organizing abilities.
- Ability to perform under pressure.
