About the Role
The role of a Safety Officer- Mining is a critical position that requires a strong focus on safety performance management, workplace hygiene, and regulatory compliance. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal safety conditions at our mining project in Bloemfontein.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct physical condition inspections as per schedule to ensure optimal safety performance management
- Control and manage the safety and hygiene of the workplace at the project
- Ensure that the physical visibility of workers is according to the requirements and standards of the respective project/ operating unit at which the project is performed
- Conduct actual investigations (only damages, MTCs, FACs, near misses and non-conformances) finalising report and getting signoff and copies of associated docs
- Co-ordinate the Emergency drills and conduct Internal audit in respective areas
Requirements
- At least 2 TO 5 years’ experience as a Safety Officer in the mining environment
- Must possess a valid driver’s license (Code 8)
- Passport 360
Qualifications
- National Senior Certificate
- SAMTRAC or COMSOC 1 & 2
- National Diploma in Safety Management
- Certificate of training in OHSAS 18001 System Auditing or integrated internal auditing would be advantageous
