About the Role
Manpower Group is seeking an experienced Toolmaker to join our team in the Western Cape region. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for producing high-quality tools and components while ensuring efficient production processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manufacture, assemble, and repair tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures to precise tolerances
- Operate and maintain lathes, milling machines, grinders, and related toolroom machinery
- Interpret technical drawings and blueprints to produce components aligned with design requirements
- Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting of tooling
- Assess tooling from production and initiate maintenance work orders as required
- Liaise with engineering and production teams to optimise tool design and functionality
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, tool inventories, and performance updates
- Ensure toolroom is kept in an orderly, safe, and efficient condition at all times
- Adhere to health, safety, and GMP standards and report any incidents or hazards promptly
Requirements
- Grade 12 / N2 minimum
- Trade Tested Toolmaker – Red Seal / MERSETA certification preferred
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as a Toolmaker in a manufacturing environment
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in turning and milling
- Strong knowledge of machining, CNC programming, and tooling in a production environment
- TIG Welding experience advantageous
- Sound understanding of quality specifications and technical drawings
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability
- Computer literate – MS Excel and Word
- Excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, and ability to work under pressure
- Clean disciplinary and attendance record
