About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team in Sandton, Johannesburg, on a 4-morning-per-week basis (approximately 9:00am to 1:00pm). This is not a temporary or stop-gap role, but rather a long-term opportunity for a mature candidate looking for easier work hours or a mom/housewife seeking flexible half-day work. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of hands-on bookkeeping experience and be proficient in electronic accounting packages, specifically Sage Cloud Accounting.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing of supplier and customer invoices
- Capturing of data into the General Ledger (GL)
- Reconciliation of banking accounts
- Loading of payment requests and inter-company account transfers for authorisation on the FNB online platform
- Overseeing processing of petty cash
- Management of staff expense and travel claims
- Support in managing asset register
- Assisting with motor vehicle license renewals
- Assistance with payroll function/liaison with payroll agency
- Preparation of monthly project accounts and budget comparisons
- Compilation of report requirements for donors
- Issuing and recording acknowledgements of receipts to donors
- Maintenance of donor receipt records / liaison with donors
- Assistance with annual year-end audit
- Accounting functions for ad hoc events (e.g. Marimba Festival and Sounds of Celebration)
Requirements
- Processing of supplier and customer invoices
- Capturing of data into the General Ledger (GL)
- Reconciliation of banking accounts
- Proficiency with electronic accounting packages, specifically Sage Online Cloud Accounting
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel
Qualifications
- Recognised accounting qualification (e.g. BCom (Accounting) or equivalent)
