About the Role

We are seeking a fully registered Safety Officer to join a wind farm construction project on a 2 to 3-month contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for enforcing health and safety compliance across all site activities, including turbine installation, civil works, and electrical operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and enforce site-specific Health & Safety Management Plans
  • Conduct risk assessments related to wind farm activities (working at heights, lifting operations, electrical works)
  • Monitor compliance with OHSA, construction regulations, and environmental requirements
  • Perform daily site inspections, audits, and safety walkabouts
  • Oversee safe execution of high-risk activities (crane lifts, turbine erection, confined spaces)
  • Facilitate toolbox talks, inductions, and ongoing safety training
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and compile detailed reports
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and fall protection systems
  • Maintain all safety documentation and ensure audit readiness
  • Liaise with contractors, engineers, and site management on safety matters

Requirements

  • Valid SACPCMP registration as a Safety Officer (non-negotiable)
  • National Diploma or relevant qualification in Occupational Health & Safety
  • Minimum 35 years experience in construction safety (renewable energy or infrastructure preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of OHSA and Construction Regulations
  • Experience working on large-scale or multi-contractor sites
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and reporting skills
